I am excited to announce a new thing I will be doing on the blog! It is called “Local Mom Scoop” and it will be every day moms around town talking about anything local! If you are interested in writing for Mom Explores Southwest Florida, send me a message or write in the comments and we will get you on the schedule for our “Local Mom Scoop.” Today we have a super fun mom, Trish Hanson, who homeschools and loves field trips with her boys writing about their visit to Dakin Dairy Farm! 1. Tell us a little about you and your family.
I am a work from home Pink Zebra Independent Consultant, a mom of 3 beautiful boys, Dylan (age 13), Eli (age 10), and Lucas (age 2). I have been married to my wonderful husband, Nick for 13 years and have been living in sunny Florida for 12 years.
2. What place in southwest Florida are you featuring?
Dakin Dairy Farm
3. What was your experience like?
This was by far one of my favorite places we have visited so far! We went with our home school group for a field trip. The staff was very nice and provided us with a lot of information! We did the whole tour that started with making butter and then eating the butter on crackers. We sampled the delicious chocolate milk that is made right there on the farm! It’s so good!
We saw the process of how cows are milked and how the milk is bottled.
The last thing on the tour was a hayride around the whole farm! We saw the cows up close and personal (a little too personal at times!! LOL).
Dakin Dairy farm has a small cafe where you can order delicious food for lunch along with their chocolate milk (or white milk) and a variety of cheeses.
After lunch we took the kids to play on the giant sand hill and the bigger kids played in the hay bale maze!
4. What was the admission price?
The home school guided tour was $10 per person
Courtyard Pass: $5 per person (two and under free)
Farm Tour $10 per person without Corn Maze (two and under free)
Corn Maze: $9 per person (two and under free) (SEASONAL)
Combo Ticket: $15 per person includes Farm Tour and Corn Maze (two and under free)
6. Where is it located?
30771 Betts Road in Myakka City. Just outside Sarasota Fl. Off of Fruitville
7. Please tell us any details that would be helpful to know when we visit.
It states on the Dakin Dairy Farm website that there is NO outside food or drink allowed but people from our group brought their own lunch.
I highly recommend Dakin Dairy Farm for everyone!!
A big shoutout to Trish for writing about their adventure to Dakin Dairy Farm! Let us know how your visit was in the comments below!
