It’s time for another “Local Mom Scoop!” This is where we hear from you! Local Mom Scoop is a post from every day moms around town talking about anything local to southwest Florida! Today it’s Big Cat Habitat! Today we have a wonderful mom, Heather Dexter, who has four kiddos. Over spring break they did all kinds of fun things around southwest Florida and one of those things was Big Cat Habitat.
- Tell us a little about you and your family.
I am a mom of four amazing kiddos! Alex, Elijah, Creighton, and Brinley. I grew up in Englewood and married my high school sweetheart, and man of my dreams! I work part time as a dental assistant, at a local dental office. We love spending time together with our family and friends.
- What place in southwest Florida are you featuring?
Big Cat Habitat
- What was your experience like?
We had a great experience over spring break. They had more than we expected to see. We saw lions, tigers, and bears (oh my)! We also saw a variety of birds and monkeys. The kids enjoyed the petting zoo. We saw a brand new goat that was just a few days old. You can feed the bears a dollar. Also, you can get an up close picture with a tiger for $10.00
- What is the admission price?
Military – free
Children – $8.00
- Where is Big Cat Habitat located?
7101 Palmer Blvd. in Sarasota.
- Please tell us any details that would be helpful to know we we visit.
The entire park has stroller availability. A concession stand is open with drinks and snacks. You can plan on spending two hours while you visit.
Big Cat Habitat is closed Monday and Tuesday and open Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 4PM.
A big thanks to Heather for writing about Big Cat Habitat! If you are interested in writing for Mom Explores Southwest Florida, send me a message or write in the comments and we will get you on the schedule for our “Local Mom Scoop.”
